"When life gives you one hundred reasons to cry, show life you have one thousand reasons to smile!" -Anonymous

Another day has passed by,
As the little boy looks to the sky-
Wondering when the conflict will end,
And when happiness will begin.

This isn't what he pictured.
Who knew it could be so hard?
He's beginning to wonder if it's really worth it-
To have his family torn apart
By the desire to achieve a dream.

He sits by the window.
Time ticks by-
It's the same every day.
When will they begin to realize
What is important in life?

He tries to tell them what they're missing,
To slow down and take a deep breath-
Stop and smell the roses.
But they can't seem to understand.

The fighting goes on
As the family falls apart.
They have failed to see
The dream has ruled the day once more.

He sits by the door.
Time ticks by-
It's the same old pattern.
Have they begun to realize what is important in life?

They now realize what they never enjoyed.
And how they never took time out of their day
To slow down and play.
They now live with regrets,
And memories they would rather forget.

They did no learn to live for joy,
Or take in every moment like it's their last.
For it's the small things in life
That really make us happy;
Rather than dreams that are almost too big.

He sits by the phone
Time ticks by-
It's the same every day,
As he waits for his parents to call
To say they know what is important in life.

A dove flies high
In the clear blue sky.
A soul has passed on
Who is headed for home.
But he still acts as a constant reminder
To live for moments, rather than grand pictures...
