It took away
And it gave something in return
It took away soccer
It gave me taekwondo
It took away running and jumping
It gave me a black belt
It took away some of the people I hung out with
It gave me new everlasting friends
It took away fun
It gave me demo
It gave me pain
It gave me power
It took away my future
It gave me a new one
It took away carelessness
It gave me cautiousness
It gave me a brace
It gave me protection
It gave me crutches
It gave me realization
That because of an ACL tear
And all the pain and suffering it gave me
I now know some amazing people
And I would not change what happened
FOR THE WORLD

The author's comments:

This is a great point to make: "one door closes, another one opens".
