A Foreigner

Within this state,
I am a foreigner.
I am a noted rival of the population,
And I am loathed with an affection.
I am wild,
While they are tamed.
I am armed,
And they are defenseless.
I am a foreigner,
And I choose to be.
They are deplorable,
And I am miserable.
Within this state,
I am a foreigner.
I am white,
As white as they.
They are Herds and Mountaineers,
I am a Hokie and a Cavalier.
They are uniform,
And I am indiscriminate.
Within this state,
I am a foreigner.
I am a foe and an ally,
And I am acknowledged for nothing.
