Day and Night

December 5, 2009
Last night, conflict showed up on my doorstep.
I quickly pushed drama out the window so they wouldn’t meet.
I had more than enough to deal with.
After three hours of fighting, compromise arrived.
We talked, and compromise convinced conflict to leave.
I introduced compromise to gratitude, and the two walked out together.
I thought I was finished until oppression called.
I tried to fend him off, but he persisted.
I hung up and cried to compassion, who held my hand.
Unfairness laughed through the paper-thin walls, and scorn joined him.
Then love walked in and hugged me tightly.
My heart relaxed, and I fell asleep.
The next morning, I woke up slowly.
As I stared out the window, I saw hope shining in.
Smiling, I ran out to greet tomorrow.
