Too much time left in my hands
A gift I didn’t want
I watch you dance around
All your moves guide you past me
I’d sell my house to live under you
But I know that when the storm comes
my shelter would be gone

Look at me
Let me peer inside you
But I can’t use my eyes
if you don’t use yours

Now my bed is far too warm
Too warm for me to leave it
The rain plays the role of my metronome
and my sleep is my song

My dreams are vivid
In color, not like yours
I dream of a neon-painted sky
Glittered eyelids
Flashes of white although a crowd
What we know but don’t understand
is how I’d let you stand in my way

I drift in and out of sleep
losing my sense of time
And with all the strength I’ve gathered
I get up

My mouth harbors no words for you
No pillows tearstained
Now I feel my glittered eyelids
looking up at the neon-painted sky
and around at the flashes of white
