I am always there,
I cradle you in my arms,
when no one else cares.

You think nothing of it.

I think I’m better,
in return from helping you.
I can’t face the truth:

You’re only deepening my sorrow.

I thought I would care
when I lost all of myself,
but I felt nothing.

You took all of what made me… me.

Do you realize how empty I feel?
Left alone in the dark,
In contact with others, but without actual connection,
I am alone.

When you think of me from now on,
don’t remember how I made you feel,
or how I was always there for you.
Remember how you left me,
and know; you’ll never replace me.

The author's comments:
I origionally wrote this poem for an english assignment which was to personify an inanimate object. This poem was meant to be from a winter coat to its owner, but i thought it embodied my personal troubles and expierences better the way it is now.
