"Everything we do in this life is insignificant"-Ghandi

I took a Sunday stroll beneath the pain of the knoll.
The misery was creeping, fear was speaking, there, under that sky of coal.
And I remembered you.
A child of such purity passed me on my way
with a smile envied by the sun in May.
Not a care, not a worry, not a trouble in the world.
That smile was hope in a world of decay.
And I remembered you.
My stroll beneath the knoll fell almost to a close
as I navigated my way through the urban rows.
With every rythmic step, was another jab to my heart.
As I came into view of the church, tears broke free and ran off my nose.
And I remembered you.
It was a December day, I know.
For I remember crying there in the snow.
Your lifeless hand slipped from mine one last time
and then you sank where I couldn't go.
So low.

And I remembered you.
