Awake

My radio blasts through my body;
shaking my inner soul;
acting as a make-shift heart;
beating drum-like vibrations through me.
I feel sane.
Goosebumps arise on my feeble arms;
whisking me away on an imaginary
rainbow through the car window.
I am awake.
I taste the air.
I feel the sky.
I am taken back through time;
back to the beginning.
I am five years old;
sliding down a massive slide.
Laughter encompasses my self.
I run around carelessly
through the playground.
Silence comes.
I wake up,
startled;
and effortlessly turn off my clock radio.
