Cinema
People wait in a semi-dark cave
At the entrance to a million worlds.
Anticipation and chatter fill the air
While the crowd moves forward.
Tickets are clutched in eager hands
Like passports, boarding imaginary plane.
They’re on a journey to the land of romance and horror
And everything else in-between.
Cat eyes line the carpeted runaway
That leads to the empty auditorium.
The silence is broken by the punters hurrying
Trying to find their seats in the dark.
Finally settled, the plane takes off,
The screen lights up impressively.
Enraptured by the tale before them,
The watchers leave their lives behind.
The film is starting.
