"Write what you care about and understand. Writers should never try to outguess the marketplace in search of a salable idea; the simple truth is that all good books will eventually find a publisher if the writer tries hard enough, and a central secret to writing a good book is to write on that people like you will enjoy."
Richard North Patterson

You warm face on bright sunny days.
You tan me after I’ve been out for a while.
I see how everything comes alive, but
I see what you did to my sister.
The scar on her arm will always remind me
That you can cause skin cancer.

The author's comments:
My sister got skin cancer this summer. Thankfully it wasn't really bad, but it made my whole family very much aware of the sun and the need to put on sun-screen. Please have your skin checked. It saved my sister's life. It could save yours.
