As the powerful wave swiftly breaks against the sand
And rushes back towards the ocean
I feel the pull of the current and wish that it could carry me with it
Take me away from here
Even for a moment
Escape the memories and the pain
If I were to go under the surface could I come up for air at a different time in life?
Go back to when everything made sense and happiness didn’t seem so crazy
I dive into the clear blue water closing my eyes
It is silent
I gently kick upwards and breathe in the air
Opening my eyes, I realize I am still in this moment
