Love Afraid
Fearful love is not love at all,
The weakest, most cowardly of amorous species.
Fearful love hides in hearts of those who fall,
At the hands of loving beastly.
Fearful love is always in the cave,
Sickly pale it reaches from the towering darkness,
Only to be shoved and cursed in most horrid ways,
Only to find a drearier abyss.
Fearful love, strongest of creatures,
Though the title lacks any sense of pride,
As they demonstrate strength at the risk of their lives,
They then fall to the lightless side.
A species so loyal they shall fade
By your will before they leave you,
As they loyally wait by your feet and fade into grey,
You lie that your love is true.
A species so beautifully helpless they may all one day die,
Because courageous cowards are nothing but birds afraid to fly.
