Disappointment
Sitting here watching the phone,
Praying that it will ring ‘cause you promised.
Standing there, at the mail box,
Hoping for the letter you promised.
Lying here, on the floor by the door,
Waiting for you because you promised.
The phone will not ring, or it just wouldn’t be you
Even though you promised.
A letter will not arrive, at least not from you or to me,
Even though you promised.
I could lie here forever, you’d never come
I know that people break promises every day,
I just didn’t expect this broken heart.
