In the Barren Winter
The children at school cut snowflakes out of paper,
The fairies of the sky cut out snowflakes too.
They use magic paper and send it down to you.
The magic paper falls and sticks,
Then instantly dissolves, forever melting way.
Temporary beauty and everlasting magic,
Decorate a frigid winter’s day.
The flakes spiral down to our lowly, human level,
And cling to your lashes, you toques and your skin.
They come and melt and wash out all evil,
They make the world all lively and joyful again.
