Never Enough
A growl rolls through you,
shaking your frail body.
I can't pull away,
from your fear stricken eyes.
I reach out,
desperate to scare the flies away,
that you are too weak to brush off,
or too hungry to notice.
Your stomach is swollen,
begging for the satisfaction,
of one small portion.
There is never enough.
Disease plagues the people,
who care for you most.
They toss and turn,
knowing they cannot provide you a future.
There is no money,
nothing to support you.
There is never enough.
As poverty hits harder,
you become sicker.
Lips cracked,
body aching,
hope is tough to feel at times like these.
Foundations promise,
a fresh start, something to believe in.
There is never enough.
"A small donation,
that's all we need."
Why not a large donation,
a worldwide fundraiser?
To feed the starving,
save the sick?
But then again,
There is never enough.
