I still don't know...
I still don't know
quite
where it began
but it did
with the pounding rain
and the quicker beats
and the fascinating darkness
illuminated
gracefully
by the constellations
trying to get the sky
to stop weeping for us
we didn't care
we were living in slow motion
we were flying
we were screaming
we were crazy
i still don't know
quite
how it happened
but it did
with the racing cars
and the crashing waves
and the odds all screaming
against us
they were pounding us down
like
the sobbing blackness
unrelenting
we didn't care
we had our eyes fixed
we stood like magnets
of equal charge
against the gravitational forces
repelling us
we ignored the rapping wind
we were there
before we made the choice
i still don't know
quite
why it happened
but it did
with the impossible sureness
and the voices we chose not to hear
our hands interlaced
like an unfeasible concrete
locked with no hope
of a key to divide again
we were there
wearing our hearts on our sleeves
and our souls reflected in our liquid eyes
we were each other
we were ourselves
we were one
