How It Starts

It starts with a need,
a need to feel something,
anything,
and it ends with friends,
confused, worried,
hurting.

It starts with a blade,
pressed to skin, pushing,
pulling,
and it ends with blood,
a cut, red, dripping,
a release.

It starts with a pain,
overflowing, needing,
hurt,
and it ends with relief,
calm, collected,
a feeling.

It starts with me,
making a mistake,
I’m sorry,
and it ends with you,
always helping, no matter what,
thank you.

The author's comments:
though i kinda of hate it, my friend is taking me to the guidance counselor and he'll call my parents, so we're in a little fight, so I wrote him this poem, to show him that I know he's only doing what he thinks is best...
