How It Starts
It starts with a need,
a need to feel something,
anything,
and it ends with friends,
confused, worried,
hurting.
It starts with a blade,
pressed to skin, pushing,
pulling,
and it ends with blood,
a cut, red, dripping,
a release.
It starts with a pain,
overflowing, needing,
hurt,
and it ends with relief,
calm, collected,
a feeling.
It starts with me,
making a mistake,
I’m sorry,
and it ends with you,
always helping, no matter what,
thank you.
