Victory

November 22, 2009

I cross the finish line and look into the crowd of endless gleaming lights
The stadium is packed, not a seat empty
I try not to show the great pain that I am in, but it is tough, and
I start my victory lap

Words cannot describe the feeling
As I look into the stands of the cheering Americans, holding their flags high
A smile lights up my face
It is as if I am outside of my body
Hovering over the stadium
Watching myself

The man puts the gold medal with 5 gold rings on it
Around my neck
There is no experience
That can compare to this

Standing high on the platform
Among the other top finishers
I have done it; my hard work has paid off and
I am the champion
