The Wait

I wait for her
For what could she do without me?
I guide her footsteps
But now, that is no more.

It was on that night
With my twin brother and I
That she danced for long,
Joyful for having met her prince.

Then in the earliest of mornings
When the clock struck twelve
She ran as fast as the wind
To return to her burden.
But she lost me
And couldn’t come back
So her prince took care of me.

We search the village for her-
Everyone taking turns
And hoping that I am theirs
So they may have My Lady’s prince.
But none were as petite as her.

And to this day we search
So we may once again be reunited
But until the time comes
I wait.
