Attaining Piece
My O’ My
I long for peace
A walk beneath the open sky
Night or day, rain or shine
Beauty is found everywhere, all the time
So why is it that no one sees it
Conformity is rampant.
Stares you down until you
bend and fold. I try to march
along with them, yet it feels
so unnatural, “walk to the beat
of your own drum” is what they
preach, and no matter how long
I may try, how hard I fight. It has
become my nature. To just stroll
along with others in step.
One by one
Taking a last look back before
Falling into our sleep
But I long to take a different path
To not complacently fall into a sleep
But rather jump in happily, ready to
go at a moments notice
Peace can be reached
And when it is
It will be mine and mine alone
To be shared with no one
Yet to be explored by all
In hopes that one day another soul
May find a piece of peace too.
