The Colors of Fall
Walking to school
 Among the blowing leaves
 Stepping on the crunchy ones
 Humming a song
 Buttoning up my coat
Wishing that I had brought mittens
 Dodging the puddles
Walking a bit faster, don’t want to be late
 Munching on pumpkin seeds-
 Forgot about breakfast
Watching the sun rise just a bit higher
 Hearing the birds call
 They are flying south
 Some more leaves fall
With that big gust of wind
While I see the colors of fall
 Wishing for snow
 And less homework
Shoving my hands deeper in my pockets
And saying a prayer of thanks
For the orange, yellow, brown, red
 On black.
