The Boy

i'm standing next to the boy i'm meant to be with, but i can't breath.
i can't breath again until
he says those three words.
no not i love you.
that's asking for too much.
i want you.
that's it.
i want you is all i need to hear.
i want you in anyway.
i need you.
any of those will mend my soul.
but,
reality is bitter and
he doesn't need me at all.
parts of me are stuck
in denial.
parts of me believe that
love is still in existence and
you're still in it with me.
(yet you said you're through)
you're either still in love or you never loved.
you don't fall outta love i swear you don't.
reality is bitter and
he doesnt' need me at all.
parts of me are stuck in denial.
parts of me still say
you'll come back
but you're already on the train leaving.
ha leaving.
like the rest of them.
like you swore you wouldnt.
remind that?
when you swore you weren't like
my daddy.
but like i thought,
they all walk away.
regardless of the love they promised.
you promised, i promised.
we promised.
but there must be a difference
between you and i.
because for once i kept my word and yours?
it must've slipped away.
i'm standing next to the boy
and we're meant to be.
i'm standing next to the boy
we're meant to be,
and he can't realize it.
i'm standing next to the boy
who claims he doesn't love me and
i almost believe him.
i'm standing next to the boy
who doesn't love me.
not anymore.

Very raw, emotional, and heartfelt. I love this poem; great piece. Just a heads-up for spelling: breathe (with an E). Keep writing! (:
