Why No Fight?

They sit,
Entranced in the power of deceit,
Naive of their surroundings,
Oblivious to the Truth,
Corrupted by Lies.

They sit,
Their lives broken down to little more than an ash tray.
No understanding,
No ideas,
No concepts of their world.
They accept it.
They cannot remember.

One stands!
How dare she!
A lance is thrust into her heart.
Her blood - her life - spews out.
Her lips quiver.
Eyes falter once more.
She accepts defeat.
No fight.
Why no fight?

They sit,
In their world that was and is not meant to be.
This was an intrusion -
Unexpected.
They did not see it.
Could not see it.
But now they do not fight.
Why do they not fight?

Light!
Hope!
It streams in like a wisp of fresh air.
Yet they shield their eyes.
They do not want to see it.
They do not want to fight.
Why do they not want to fight?

They sit.
Others are dragged in by their hair,
ears,
limbs.
They have been tortured to the extreme.
There is no mercy here.
Only defeat.
Except...
A strong burst of sunshine!
Those who sit see this delight as agony.
They scream in horror,
Leave me! Leave me to die!”
But not all...
Some fight!

They stand,
Walk,
Run!
Lances are thrust,
But cannot hit!
The light is thick as chain mail:
Protecting,
Guiding.
Those who still sit with covered eyes
cannot see the miracle.
They are blind.
Why do they not look?

They sit,
Entranced in the power of deceit,
Naive of their surroundings,
Oblivious to the Truth, the Light,
Corrupted by Lies.
Why do they no fight?

I had a very vivid image in my head one day, very similar to this one, and I decided to write it down as it flashed through my mind.
