The Haunting in the Trees
The ghost of Helen
haunts the woods
and scares the children away.
The children go to her in
daylight to greet her but refuse to
stay at night.
She is old and rotten;
deteriorated from rain,
wind, and mother nature.
Her appearance frightens the
children, but a few brave the
night to meet her at
her best time; for she is
most alive when the light is out. Her
fear is greatest when the lights are
out and the shadow of the
branches are illuminated on
her oak. The children wonder
if she is there all day. Is she
in the gazebo, walking around,
scaring the children; or,
is she the gazebo?
That question may
never be answered.
