They both say it’s okay
Reassuring themselves and the shared pieces in between
When I know that isn’t true

I feel alone in efforts to mend
Knowing I am doomed to fail
Half my life one way
Half the other
Both pulling for a whole
Strive for elasticity
Need to yell
Need to scream everything no one hears
Need to be anywhere but here
