Winter
A thick layer of white, soft snow
Lies on the ground
A chill swarms through the
Air, causing the trees to dance
In front of the gray sky
I breathe out heavily and it shows in
The frigid air
I open my front door quickly, trying
To avoid snowflakes flying in
The warmth welcomes me
A roaring fire dances in my living room stove
The aroma of homemade chocolate chip cookies
And vanilla fills the house
My nose starts to tingle, now that I can feel it
I trudge over to the wood table and grab a soft
Cookie with my numb hand
I sit in front of the fire with a mug filled with
Steaming hot chocolate
And gaze at the beautiful tree, draped with glistening
Ornaments and twinkling lights
That looks like the night sky
