My star

You’re a star,
Just outside my reach,
Falling
Into the arms of another
Yet I can see you,
From afar
And just when I think I have you in my grasp
You slip over the horizon
You light my world,
Bring sparks of radiance into what was once dark
You’re my meaning
And reason
Against all the odds
And as I look into the night sky,
All I can do is wonder,
Is tonight the night
That you’ll finally be mine?
