As I watch the light in my place I see a girl looking towards me.
I remain calm and composed.
Then she begins to walk towards me.
My body fills with fear as she walks.
Questions begin to fill my mind.
Why is she walking towards me?
Why didn’t she ignore me like the rest?
Who is she?
She stretches out a hand and continues to walk.
Then her hand begins to pass through the barrier that separates the light from the shadows.
I back away in fear of the unknown.
But alas it’s too late for me, for I am being pulled into the light.
I fall down as soon as I am in the light.
Once I regain my senses I realize that my mask and cloak aren’t on.
Then the girl asks me this “How come you’re just standing there?”
Lost for words I just sit there.
A question enters my mind as it entered the others.
Why doesn’t she see the shadows?
She stretches out her hand again and asks “Well? Are you coming?”
I don’t answer; I just put my hand with hers and get up.
With our hands still together, she turns her head and runs.
I follow in her stead.
As I ran with her, I felt an old sensation.
A sensation that makes an emotion.
Following the emotion is an action.
The sensation is trust.
The emotion is happiness.
And the action is a smile.
I don’t look back.
I just keep on running.
We pass the boy who betrayed me.
But I don’t notice.
I don’t even care.
I only focus on what’s in front of me.
Which is the girl who’s running.
I know a word that describes her.
And that word is?
Nakama
