The Color of Skin

The color of skin;
An unchangeable trait.
Now a raging red fire,
Fueled by confusion and hate.

A crack of the whip,
Leaves a scar on his back;
That taint marks the difference
Between white and black.

Years have gone by,
The hostility remains.
This malice makes me wonder,
Can’t you see, we’re the same!?

We’ve got blood flowing red,
Hearts set in our core.
Two eyes, and behind them,
Tears ready to pour…

Because of this shame,
We’ve aspersed on mankind.
Further showing the world
The venom in our minds.

Yes, our hearts are as blind,
As slight as our skin.
So thin yet precludes us
From seeing truth, deep within.

I worte this for an English assignment about racial tolerance. I hope this will inspire everyone to realize that skin makes no difference to who we are, truly.
