Sometimes life can tear you down
Steal your strength
And let you drown in your own tears
Sometimes it sneaks up
Without a sound
You feel your heart get ready
For the impact
No matter how much you brace yourself
It’s never enough
So insecure, so unsure
Falling flat on your face
And being held there
By a foot on your back
A whisper in your ear
Telling you one more thing
You didn’t want to hear
So much to do
And not enough time
Overwhelmed and down for the count
Tired and scared
Ready to forever be in peace
