October 22, 2009
I am from corn
From candy and silver queen,
I am from our never ending Jungle of green,
The kernels and the husk,
I am from the farm and the ones who must,
From Matthews and Witkop
I’m from those who are always late,
And who stress if you can’t say something nice,
don’t say it at all,
From the never give up’s and the ones who care.
I’m from Catholics who believe
Jesus is always there,
I’m from German and Scottish,
From corn and steak and potatoes,
From the South Carolina plantation owners working hard to get their crops,
And the man who can fix anything with the right stuff,
From the walls of memories
Sad and good I will never forget,
I am from family,
Their greatest gift to me.

This is a neat poem. I liked how it is not about your normal teen depressing stories but a poem about famliy and your life. You incorpurate your religoin, heritage, and even the foods you eat! One of the most powerful lines I think would be "I am from a famliy, Their greatest gift to me." It shows your famliy's greatest gift to you is having them around. Atleat that is what I acquired from it. I also like how you add a bit about yourself how you say, " I'm from those who are always late, and who stress if you can't say something nice, dont say it at all". I think this shows that your pretty laid back and is care free about being late yet, you also include a pet-piev you have. This is really unique keep up the good work!

It is great to read poems by a teen that is not about a depressing topic. I really enjoyed it . Please check out my writings that I have posted I think you would really enjoy them.
