Not

He loves me, he loves me not.
He loves me, he loves me not.

The way you inspired me -
taught my how to look at the world
a whole new way.
Said I was beautiful,
when tears trickled down my cheeks.
Your arm was my castle,
Secure under your protection.
You were my world-
my heart: my everything.
I thought we would be forever,
You and me,
As one.

He loves me, he loves me not.
He loves me, he loves me not.

It’s all changed now.
Your guard is let down,
I’m hurt.
Your love and compassion has faded;
as if blown away by the cool autumn breeze.
The smile-
that had once warmed my soul-
has vanished.
Do you still love me?

He loves me, he loves me not.
He loves me, he loves me not.

The last piece of life,
has burned.
Our love is extinguished.
The last petal -
of the once blossoming flower -
has fallen to the kindled ground.
Our history,
up in flames.

He loves me not.
