The Dancer

The dancer performs on stage.
She smiles,
despite the aching she feels in her toes.
She tells her own story
with her feet,
with her arms,
with her face.
She is an actress and
she acts her part well.
She wears her tutu
and Pointe shoes
with ease
as an artist holds a brush.
She bounces,
makes few mistakes,
and never surrenders
or stops.
She keeps performing.
