You can see the cruelest part of the world, but then on the other side, you see the most beautiful part. It's like you go from one extreme to the next, and they're both worth it because you wouldn't see the other without the other one.

Today was a special day in the south
Outside, snow blanketed the ground
Changing the landscape dramatically.

A wide smile spread across my face
Snow! Not just a dusting but a blanket.
In one swift move I was down the stairs
And approaching the door.

Outside, the icy snow crunched underneath my boots.
It was unspeakably cold, but I didn't care,
I made snowmen, snow angels and had a snowball fight.
With the excess snow I built a fort and pounded
My neighbor with snowballs
Until he gave in and yelled "Quit it!"

Soon the snow melted,
Leaving nothing but
Memories and wishes for the next snowfall.

I wrote this piece after a writing prompt in my Creative Writing class inspired me to think of memories that happened in my past. With winter apporaching and my hopes for snow rising, I wrote about the last snowfall I enjoyed.
