The stench of the battle field
The sound of gunfire off in the distance
Like a woodpecker tapping on a tree
It reminds us of home
The bombshells striking solid ground
Withing which the sounds of morning are lost and found
Our alarm clock isn't like yours
With your soft wind and waves pounding off shores
Our alarm clock is heavy winds and cries of pain
For we are American soldiers
Sometimes we die in veign
For the protection of our homes
We are American soldiers
Putting our hearts and souls on the line
We fight for your freedom
Not just because we seek war
But because war seeks us
We are American soldiers and this is how we live
And in God we trust
