We bundle in the car
Dressing to keep from cold
Holding our candy bags
And someone else's hands
We can feel Halloween

Around us is the scent
Of warm, Halloween food
And car exhaust. Also
Of neighbor's fog machine
We can smell Halloween

And as we “Trick-or-Treat!”
Walking through crackling leaves
We speak in quiet voices
Creepy music surrounds
We can hear Halloween

Biting carmel apples
Sneaking sticky candy
Sweet, like angel's tears.
After is the soft pretzels.
We can taste Halloween

Parading through the streets
Painted smiles, ghostly masks
Masquerades of glow sticks
Crowds, far as eyes can peer
We can see Halloween.

The best, night of all nights
Tangible Halloween
Cannot be shown in words
But I love it the same
This is my Halloween.
