I Hit My Knees
My tears hit the floor as I hit my knees.
Praying to God “don’t take her please”
I need that girl just like I need the world to twirl.
If I lose her than surely my world will stop.
This has happened to me only once before.
The day the doctor called us back and as we walked through the door.
I could see it in his eyes.
As he told us the news I hit my knees and cried.
She said she would be alright that we would make it through.
I smiled through tears and said “if anyone could it’s you”.
That night as I knelt by my bed I prayed to God that he had to save her.
Now as she starts to flat line, I’m hitting my knees again.
Praying to God that he won’t take away my best friend.
I tell God that I need her that she means everything, I’m begging you please
Don’t take her from me.
And as her heartbeat starts to rise
I know we’ll be alright
God’s heard my prayer; he won’t take her from me.
And my tears hit the floor as I rise from my knees.
