I Am Napoleon with a Waterloo This work has been published in the Teen Ink monthly print magazine.

You were intrigued from first gaze
You had to have me
You and all the others wore gray
My golden laces of hair
Hung around my shoulders
And the white cloth shielded me
It separated me from everyone
My white shirt showed how
Amazing, strong
And passionate I was
Amongst you I was Napoleon
People envied me
In a sick, twisted way I craved it
But you were my Waterloo
I wasn't a bad person
But you destroyed my title
As you begged for my attention
The only attractive quality about you
Was that one step forward
That amplified confidence
It pulled me in
Smothered every aspect of my being
Smothered me
With unwanted feelings
Now that I've experienced it all
I hate you
I hate you more than anything
I couldn't say it fast enough
You promised me the world
Never following through
You always had “backup”
Forever am I scarred
I can no longer trust
You ruined a year of my life
Half the time I was high
High off the scent of you
You and your confidence
I shall be immune to this
There will be no more Waterloos
