I hardly even noticed,
The first time our eyes met,
The glittering color in yours,
The dull bleakness within my own.
I hardly even noticed,
The first time I heard your voice,
A smooth and gentle tone,
My own harsh and cold.
I did not even notice,
The first time I heard you laugh,
As sweet as a blue bird’s call,
While my own never showed.
I did not even notice,
The first time I heard you call my name,
Your voice making it sound gorgeous,
Although it clearly was not so.
I don’t think I noticed,
The very first time you cried,
The sight of your tears falling,
Was enough to break a heart.
I don’t think I noticed,
The first time I held you in my arms,
The sweetness of your touch,
Enough to warm even mine.
I can’t believe I didn’t notice,
The day you stole my heart,
Because of all the things you gave to me,
That I have never known before.
Now I know why I didn’t notice,
Everything that was so new,
Because none of that even mattered,
Since I had what I wanted all along, just to be close to you.

I wrote this poem while I was sitting in class one day, with nothing to do. I wrote this poem right after my other poem called 'Confessions'. Hope you enjoy.
