Princess
In a crystal castle up in the clear blue sky
In a room with a view of the picturesque courtyard
The princess sleeps, eyes closed serenely,
Her long eyelashes casting shadows on her pink cheeks.
Lips like a rosebud, the shade of the inner curve of a great shell;
Princess’s softly waving hair fans out over the satin pillows
Beneath her tired head.
She hears the quiet splashing of the waves upon the white sand
Of the beach not too far away.

The author's comments:
I wrote this when I was on a fairy-tale kick in high school. I want readers to visualize what their idea of the most beautiful, delicate princess would look like; that's why I left her features vague-ish.
