A veil separates her
From the rest of the world
Their laughter is merely
An echo ringing in her ears
She reaches out
To touch them
To feel reality
But her hand draws back
Unable to cross that barrier
Her mind roams
And in her dreams
She breaks free
And they see her
For once in her life
But her dreams
Shatter
And her eyes open
And the veil
Nearly transparent
Still separates her
From the rest of the world
