Shattered

Broken pieces
scattered in the dark
Pieces that were once united
endlessly beating for your heart

You blinded me
and I couldn't see
the cracks slowly spreading...

You played with my heart
and fed my burning fire
with stories of us
that you knew were must fairy tales.

Cupid's last arrow
flew from your bow, strung with lies and pretendings,
and made its way to my heart.

My heart shattered into a million pieces,
one for each lie
and story

You left me alone in the dark
surrounded with fairy tales
that slowly became nightmares.

And you left with that one piece,
the one that beats in your pocket,
the one that carries my love for you.

Shattered.

The author's comments:
Writing has always been a huge part of my life. I love sitting down and writing a good story or poem. When I write, it's like I'm pouring out my emotions onto the paper. I let the poem write itself. I follow it's heartbeart.
