Picture. Perfect. Pleasant. Painful.

To my love and passion how could we be unfaithful?

These images and duties engraved into my skull

What was once a loud hum in my soul is now just a lull.

The dance I swayed seemed sweet but instead was so tart.

For the sake of my eagerness please don’t destroy the tulle of my heart.

I’m sorry to ask for such a thing

To ask for a thing like acceptance and care.

It seems a thing like that is so rare.

I’m sorry, I thought you were the one.

I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to beg.

Beg like the old starving man on the corner of a street

Shame in his eyes

A story in the skies

A gray area in the lies

Give him your spare change, even just a quarter.

That could be all he needs, not even a supporter.

What is his story?

What tragic gatherings has he seen?

Why must we judge him so harshly?

Why do you judge me so harshly?

True, I don’t yield golden hair.

True, my skin is not perfectly fair.

True, I am not perfect, to my last despair.

I am not perfect

To them

But to you perfection is the definition of me.

Despite someone overlooked, I’m all you see.

To me that’s the definition of being free.

I no longer need to beg

Asking isn’t a requirement

It just is

With you I don’t need to hear a yes or a no

Like a smart crow hears words of song, you already know.

You just know.

And now my dance returns its sweetness

Amidst our feelings and its everlasting uniqueness.

From a soul once wrenched by deception

It’s forever cherished how it went into a different direction

This piece is simply about searching for love in the wrong people, whether platonic or romantic, and then at long last finding that right person for you.
