“I am the granddaughter of slaves, who dared to dream. I am the daughter of immigrants, who challenged the status quo. I am a symbol of hope and resilience" ~Sonia Sotomayor

Dear child,

Wake up from your sleep

Don't miss out on the world

Run through the fields barefoot

Hold hands with your friends

Cry tears of joy

Roll around under the sky

Breath the sunshine for it is yours

Now, now

Don't take time for granted

Tomorrow might not be here

It is like a dear friend

It stays for a while

But then leaves when it's time

Dear child listen

Listen closely to whispers of death

For darkness is not as evil as you think

They show kindness by letting you know

That they soon plan to make an arrival

Dear child, don't fret, for it is not time

Yet

At this moment my dear

Close your eyes and fall asleep

And hope that tomorrow will still be here
