Teeth

The lies you told were laced with candy,

Your teeth began to decay,

They rotted before my eyes,

And before I knew it,

Your teeth were as black as the night skies,

Ever since we ended things,

I started brushing my teeth more often,

Twice a day turned into after every time I ate,

Longing to get the taste out of my mouth,

In the same sense,

I spit you out,

I spit out the poison you thread into my veins ever so carefully,

I spit out the taste of what I thought was your sweet lips,

And I watched it all go down the drain,

The swishing and swashing of the mouthwash reminds me of the way our arguments unfold,

Back and forth until the deafening silence,

My teeth are clean from all the built up plaque,

My head is free from your lies,

Yet sometimes I am left here to realize,

That I have to watch it go down the drain again,

And again,

And again,

Until my teeth are squeaky clean.
