I wake up, with the sun

with the light peeking through the window.

I roll out of bed, my feet thud on the floor

still waking up while walking towards the bathroom.

I turn on the shower, hearing the water roar

rubbing my eyes and waking up as the water hits my back.

I walk back to my room, deciding what to wear

throwing on the first outfit I find and hoping it matches.

I slowly step down the stairs, towards the kitchen

opening the fridge to find some fruit for breakfast.

I pull out the chair, and sit down

slowly sinking into the chair and not letting my eyes leave my phone screen.

I look at the clock and rush back up the stairs, straight into the bathroom

doing my hair and putting on makeup as fast as I can.

I pack up my backpack, and head out the door

hearing my car start as I push the button.

I connect my phone to the car, hit play on my music

finally driving off towards school thinking about how I would rather be sleeping.

During the drive I realize I've been repeating this routine for 4 years.

Although, it has changed over the years;

I now focus more on how I look before leaving.

I can drive to school instead of taking the bus.

Finally, I realize that it will all be over in a few months;

I will grow up and move away and my routine will change.

These thoughts resonate as I pull into the parking lot and get out of my car.

Knowing one day I will miss rushing out the door and this short drive to school.
