Why is a raven like a writing desk?

peach trees in my sleep
all seemed rather flattered;
but i was the one who picked a peach
and watched the leaves shatter;
which soon found their new home below,
but it doesn’t really matter.
for i know this will fade,
for i know this will end.

fireworks of glory muse
all seemed rather bright;
but i was the one who scorched the fuse
and sent the darkness light;
the eyes were shut as the blossoms bloomed,
but all we see is night.
for i know this will fade,
for i know this will end.

skyscrapers of uncivilized waste
in shapes i can’t recall;
but i was the one who pushed in haste
and witnessed a giant fall;
behind the smokescreen lies a green grassed land
but the green was just too small.
for i know this will fade, for i know this will end.

now i know it’s quite a blue of days,
of days without hope to thee;
the days were folded, thrown and burnt
and gone with the breeze.
if Time’s a war we’re destined to lose
then the soldiers we shall be;
for all will fade and all will end,
but when we fight, it slows, my friend;
and till one day, the memories away,
and on ourselves we can’t depend,
the folded opened, the burnt rebuilt,
the lost come back, the hearts will mend.
that’s the day we lie so calm,
that’s the day Time shakes our hands.
that’s the day it all will fade,
that’s the day it all will end.
