jealousy
I wish to blame her
For taking you away
To curse out cupid
To swear off love and all its plays
The night sky stretches
And the stars scatter unaware
The sun shines bright
Its yellow and orange rays
destroying all but stabs of searing blame
I blame no one but my heart
which has willingly chosen
obdurate fidelity to you.
you, who im aware, can ruin me
leaving me in unholy grounds
crawling to escape.

Jealousy comes in all shapes and forms but I feel like romantic jealousy is a beast of itself. Jealousy for a crush, a friend, or even a plantonic relationship can literally ruin a person. In this piece, my goal was to embody the unique and individual emotions that make up jealousy. I wanted to highlight and personify the heart, knowing that with some of us, we choose what our heart desires and how at certain times, the blame can't be placed on another individual or thing but only on our attachment.
