I marked it on my calendar
hugged by the due date of a French paper
and a doctor’s appointment.
I marked it in my planner
and the ink ran through the page into
last week’s math homework
blurring and blaring
as only independence can.
I wrote it on my hand
so that when your face haunts my daydreams
swimming through the tops of trees
and filling my eyes with tears
I can open my hand and remember
today is the day I got over you.
