Kindness is the language that the blind can see and the deaf can hear.

You have to be odd to be #1.

You don't have to be great to start, but you do have to start to be great. -zig ziglar

Don't take criticism from people you wouldn't go to for advice.

Since the day I was born

And before I began

My parents have loved me

Been my biggest fans

When I was a baby

So small yet so loud

They tried to make me a lady

But I was too proud

I loved mud and dirt

And I love it today

I often got hurt

I was reckless at play

When I got older,

A preteen at last

My actions grew bolder

Left my parents aghast

I thought I was right

and never was wrong

I always would fight

With an attitude strong

My mom was so patient

My dad was so wise

Had long conversations

Tears poured from my eyes

I tried to fit in

To world unlike me

But couldn’t win

Had no dignity

I lost who I was

Sold it for a fake girl

Didn’t know how to trust

Felt so alone in the world

Still, my parents were there

When I was so full of hate

They showed me they cared

that their love won’t abate

Without them my life

Would have ended long ago

I would have picked up that knife

And let myself go

They’ve taught me and lead me

Through my worst and my best

Through my tears and my pain

They’ve taught me to rest

To trust in the Lord,

Let Him lead me in life

Growing deep in His Word

See His love in my eyes

They always make sure

That I know I’m enough

Help me to mature

So for them, all my love.

The author's comments:

I struggle with severe anxiety and depression. I used to cut my wrists from the pain and anger of being constantly told I'm not enpugh and that I'm broken because of the things I struggle with. Please read my poem about my parents.
